Infrared Thermal Imaging as a Novel Non-Invasive Point-Of-Care Tool to Assess Filarial Lymphoedema

چکیده
Lymphatic filariasis causes disfiguring and disabling lymphoedema, which is commonly frequently exacerbated by acute dermatolymphangioadenitis (ADLA). Affected people require long-term care monitoring but health workers lack objective assessment tools. We examine the use of an infrared thermal imaging camera as a novel non-invasive point-of-care tool for filarial lower-limb lymphoedema in 153 affected adults from highly endemic area Bangladesh. Temperature differences stage (mild, moderate, severe) ADLA history were visualised quantified using descriptive statistics regression models. Temperatures found to increase severity captured subclinical between no mild moderate severe stages. Toes ankle temperatures detected significant all stages other than Significantly higher temperatures, best heel calf measures, participants with ADLA, compared who never had regardless stage. This has great potential be used detect cases, predict progression disease status, monitor pathological tissue changes following enhanced packages or interventions lymphoedema.

Near-Infrared Spectroscopy as a Novel Non-Invasive Tool to Assess Spiny Lobster Nutritional Condition
Rapid non-invasive monitoring of spiny lobster nutritional condition has considerable application in the established fishery, live market and prospective aquaculture. The aim of this research was to test the feasibility of near-infrared spectroscopy (NIRS) as a novel non-invasive tool to assess the nutritional condition of three lobster species. Lobster (n = 92) abdominal muscle dry matter (AMD...
متن کاملInfrared Thermal Imaging As A Tool In Pain.PDF
The value of Infrared thermal imaging (ITI) is limited to evaluation of neurovascular dysfunction. It provides indispensable information regarding neuropathic pain due to perivascular microcirculatory sympathetic dysfunction. ITI records superficial, and deep temperature changes. The bilateral cervical cord temperature modulation demands careful clinical correlation. The ITI is an objective gui...
متن کاملInfrared imaging as a non-invasive tool for documenting maggot mass temperatures
Forensic entomology relies on the ability to predict the temperatures to which maggots have been exposed, due to the resultant impact on their growth rate. Mercury thermometers and electrical temperature sensors have traditionally been used to record temperatures of maggot masses, cadavers and the surrounding soil and air. However, these techniques are limited to one measurement at a time and t...

متن کاملSmall Animal PET as Non-Invasive Tool for Preclinical Imaging
Increasingly, in vivo imaging of small laboratory animals has become critical for preclinical biomedical research allowing the non-invasive assessment of biological and biochemical processes in living subjects. Many di erent positron labeled compounds have been synthesized as tracer that target a range of speci c markers or pathways yielding quantitative, spatially and temporally indexed inform...
